Farmer dies after being 'crushed’ by tractor

A farmer has died after he was crushed underneath a mini tractor and trailer that ‘overturned on steep ground’.

The incident happened on his farm in East Portlemouth, Devon on February 10 where the man, believed to be in his 40s, died at the scene.

It came as the fourth agriculture death in a tractor related incident since the New Year.

A Devon and Cornwall police spokesman said: “On February 10, emergency services were called to an address in East Portlemouth following reports that a male had been injured on a farm.

“The Devon Air Ambulance also attended but regrettably a local man was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The incident is under investigation by the police on behalf of HM Coroner, and the Health and Safety Executive are also conducting an investigation.

“Our sincere thoughts and condolences go out to the friends and family.”
