Farmer flabbergasted as lamb spontaneously stolen from roadside field

Ms Pam Nicol, who farms 1,100 sheep in Glenisla, Scotland, was informed of the incident by a neighbour who witnessed the theft on May 28 around 3pm and noted the registration plate.

It is believed the driver stopped, grabbed the lamb, put it into the boot of his car and drove off at speed.

Ms Nicol revealed the suspect in question had been at the farm prior to the incident asking the game keeper about buying a lamb for his children, but the farm had no available lambs for sale.

She said: “I am shocked someone had the audacity to pull over and just steal a lamb from its mother, rather than taking no for an answer. I can only assume the lamb was fast asleep by the fence line and so was easy to catch.”

“The stolen lamb, either a charollais x beltex or a suffolk x beltex, would be no more than a month old.”

Ms Nicol added it would also be a welfare issue since the lamb is not be used to human contact and doubts the suspect has access to the correct feed to look after the lamb.

The police have been informed of the incident.
