Farmers could be left without vital information of upcoming Basic Payment Scheme and Countryside Stewardship payments following the closure of Orange Email, a farmer has warned.
The mobile service, hosted by EE, will close all email accounts on May 31 leaving customers unable to access the account to send or receive emails.
EE said it was offering customers the chance of a ‘better email experience’.
But Nottinghamshire farmer Peter Gadd said many farmers may be caught out by the changes and miss vital correspondence.
The affected addresses include: orange.net, orangehome.co.uk, wanadoo.co.uk, freeserve.co.uk, fsbusiness.co.uk, fslife.co.uk, fsmail.net, fsworld.co.uk and fsnet.co.uk.
An RPA spokesman said: “It is important farmers check their information registered in the ‘Personal Details’ and ‘Business Details’ sections of the Rural Payments service are up-to-date.
“RPA use the email address registered for the business to contact people and, if this is not correct, important information we send could be missed.”
