It came after NFU Mutual paid out more than £50million during the 2015 Christmas storms.
Farmers have been urged to be prepared for severe weather over the festive period after the country was battered by storms two years ago.
NFU Mutual has called on rural workers to ensure they keep up-to-date with weather warnings and flooding advice ‘whether [you] are staying at home or travelling’.
Jon Cawley, head of claims at NFU Mutual said during storms Desmond, Eva and Frank on Boxing Day 2015, the firm paid out about £50million.
He said: “Checking properties for things like loose roof tiles and gutters in advance can prevent storms causing damage.
“Inside, it is also well worth having torches and emergency supplies on hand in case power goes off.”
Mr Cawley said when the floods and gales hit, the insurer would be on hand to access affected customers quickly and offer emergency payments where appropriate.
“We are a mutual insurer whose first priority is to help customers when they need us most,” he added.
“Our network of local offices means we know our customers and are able to come to their assistance very quickly when they are in trouble after weather events like storms and floods.”
