Kitty leads Aliann Holstein sale at 13,000gns

The reduction sale of the Holgate family’s Aliann pedigree Holstein herd on-farm at Settle in North Yorkshire peaked at 13,000gns for the reigning All-Britain four-year-old Aliann Mincio Kitty EX94.

The buyers were the partnership of W.E. and C.W. Jones, Monmouthshire, and N.J. and L.C. Sercombe, Leicestershire.

 

Aliann Mario Peggy VG87 calved seven months ago and although not back in calf was offered with the vendors guarantee to conceive within three months. It sold for 7,800gns to the Jones’ for their Wiltor herd.


Aliann Atwood Caramel VG88, which descends from a 13,000gns purchase from Willsboro made 7,000gns to Graham Kirby for a client.

 

Elwyn and Cheryl Thomas secured two red sisters from the Blackrose family at 6,100 and 5,000gns for their Gatrog herd, Carmarthenshire. Nick Sercombe formed another partnership with Rob Kirk of the Leedham herd, Leicestershire to buy Aliann Atwood Roxette EX90 for 6,000gns.

 

A small offering of young stock saw calves average £950 and sell to 1,350gns. Served heifers averaged £2,000 peaking at 2,800gns for an Elegance bred from 10 generations of EX cows.

 

Averages - 90 cows and calved heifers (including 10 calves at £950.25), £ 2,843-17; 10 served heifers, £ 2,118.75; 8 recently served and maiden heifers, £ 1,214.06; 1 bull, £1,522.50; 109 lots, £2,644.74.
