Barbers cheesemakers announces May price drop #teamdairy

Muller has confirmed that it’s milk price for standard contracts will be unchanged in May.

The price was also held for April at a standard litre price of 26.69 ppl before any additional retailer supplement.

A Muller spokesman said: "Our business model and investment in adding value means that we are less exposed to the extremes of commodity market volatility.

"However we are not immune from market returns and we will continue to monitor our position and work with representatives of the dairy farmers who supply us."

For Muller Organic producers, the price will rise by 1ppl from 1 May.

Barbers cheesemakers has announced a price drop of 1.25ppl for May across both its contracts.

If follows a commitment made in November to reach 30.13ppl in February, which was sustained for three months.

The Barber’s Assured standard litre for May will be 29.05ppl with the producers on the former Barber’s contract at 27.55ppl.

It said the drop was due to weakening cheddar markets, increasing UK milk supplies and processor competition.
