New Land Rover Defender tested in the Arctic, Dubai and Herefordshire

More official images of the new Land Rover Defender have been revealed this week.

The iconic styling has gone, in favour of a more rounded silhouette, akin to Jaguar Land Rover’s Discovery and Range Rover models.

 

The company says production of the vehicle will be moved to the same site as the Discovery, which is in Nitra, Slovakia, with delivery dates thought to be in early 2020.

 

Engines will continue to be manufactured in Wolverhampton, and design and engineering is staying at Gaydon.

So far, the company says 1.2 million kilometres of testing has been carried out in the world’s harshest environments, from 50degC heat in Dubai to minus 40degC cold in the Arctic, as well as some muddy puddles in Herefordshire.
