The 12-month-old bull by French sire, Linzo, an Objat grandson, is out of Idee, a Ducasse-bred cow. It was third in its class in the pre-sale show. It was knocked down to the Sandham family, East Carlton, Yeadon, and will go to join their 160-strong herd of British Blue cows.
Next, at 5,800gns was the supreme champion, Proctors Nitro, from Proctors Farm, Slaidburn. The September 2017-born bull by 38,000gns Ampertaine Foreman is out of a Haltcliffe DJ daughter Proctors Gwen. It went home with D. and A. Livestock, Harrogate.
Following this at 5,000gns from Claire Cropper and John Mellin, was Cropmel Naughtyboy, an April 2017-born bull by Plumtree Fantastic out of Topplesfield Ivory. It sold to B.G. Price, Hay-on-Wye.
Realising 4,800gns was a Proctors Nijinski, a full brother of Proctors Nitro, which was the second prized intermediate bull. It was knocked down to Alan Lodge, Malham. Proctors Farm also sold two further entries at 4,000gns and 3,700gns.
Females topped at 3,000gns for a 2014-born cow, Angiean Javina from Ian and Angela Grisedale, Kendal. By Ionesco, Javina picked up a third prize in the pre-sale show. It sold to Janet Sheard, Huddersfield with its March-born British Blue heifer calf at foot.
Mr and Mrs Grisedale also took 2,000gns for Angiean Nigella, a March 2017-born maiden heifer by Goldies Forever.
John and Sue Swales, Thirsk, realised 1,550gns with Swale Nevergold, their October 2017-born maiden heifer by Norman Jockey which sold to John Hopkinson, Cowling.
