Red Ladies top 20,000gns

Grahams Nicki, a September 2017-born daughter of Amptertaine Gigolo out of Grahams Lulu, headed the trade at 20,000gns at the Red Ladies Derby show and sale of Limousins at Carlisle.

Consigned by Robert and Jean Graham, Bridge of Allan, the first granddaughter of Grahams Coffee to be offered for sale was reserve overall senior champion at the Stars of the Future 2018 and took the pre-sale show championship before selling to Messrs Perkins, Radstock, Somerset.

 

The same buyers then went to 17,000gns to secure the reserve champion, Proctors Nellgwyn, a September 2017-born heifer by Ampertaine Foreman out of Proctors Gwen from Proctors Farm, Clitheroe.

 

Two then sold for 12,000gns. The first was March 2017-born Huntershall Nebraska, by Ballinloan Jaegerbomb out of Huntershall Hattie.

 

Consigned by Stephen Nixon, Wigton, it was knocked down to Messrs Barclay, Banchory, who also paid 11,000gns for Grahams Naughtyspice from Messrs Graham.

 

The daughter of Ampertaine Elgin is out of Milbrook Gingerspice, a former three-time Balmoral inter-breed champion.

Also making 12,000gns from the Wilodge herd, Shifnal, was Wilodge Naturelle, the first female to be offered for sale by Grahams Lorenzo and out of Wilodge Diamante. The buyers were Messrs Gould, Shrewsbury.

 

The sale of weaned calves topped at 16,000gns for the first prize bull calf, April-born Aultside Overdrive, by Ronick Hawk out of Spittalton Flush and consigned by Gary Patterson, Keith. The buyers were Messrs Handley, Carnforth.

 

The first prize heifer calf, Haltcliffe Ode, a January-born daughter of Dinmore Jacot out of Haltcliffe Jingle from the Haltcliffe herd, Hesket New Market which sold to Messrs Morrissey, Co Carlow, Eire.

 

Making 10,000gns was the second prize heifer calf, Foxhillfarm Oriel, by Ampertaine Gigolo out of Foxhillfarm Gracie from Melanie and Michael Alford, Cullompton, which was knocked down to Messrs White, Moreton-in-Marsh.

 

Averages - 3 Red Ladies with calves at foot, £6,370; 55 Red Ladies heifers, £4,495.91; 17 weaned bull calves, £3,610.15; 49 weaned heifer calves, £2,428.01.
