Red Ladies top at 20,000gns at Carlisle

THE Red Ladies Derby show and sale of Limousin females at Carlisle topped at 20,000gns with a 74 per cent clearance rate.

The sale leader was the reserve champion from the pre-sales show, Sarkley Odelisha, an August 2018-born maiden heifer by the Plumtree Fantastic son, Sarkley Jaguar out of Sarkley Jilisha, a Powerhouse Elite daughter. Consigned by E.H. Pennie and Son, Montgomery, it sold to Messrs Corrie, Newtonards, Northern Ireland.

 

At 8,500gns was April 2018-born Annanview Olala from Kevin Watret, Annan. By Kilcor Iceman and out of Tweeddale Harika by Goldies Fandango, it sold to Miller Farms, Inverurie.
Next at 8,000gns was Smithy Olympia, a Plumtree Fantastic daughter from A.K. and J.K. Smith, Bude, Cornwall which sold to the partnership of Messrs Watson and Co, Berwick upon Tweed and Messrs Barclay, Insch.

 

The day’s overall champion, April 2018-born Breconside Ora from Breconside Farming Partners, Moffat sold for 6,800gns. By the Requin son, Netherhall Jackpot out of the Wilodge Vantastic daughter, Breconside Framble, it sold in a two-way split to Turner Farms, Honley, and Fieldson Limousins, Gainsborough.

Topping the weaned calf sale at 9,000gns was the first prize winning heifer calf, January 2019-born Foxhillfarm Priceless from Michael and Melanie Alford, Cullompton. By Objat and out of 125,000gns Glenrock Illusion, it sold to Nugent Estate and Farm, Newtownards, Northern Ireland.

 

Next at 8,500gns was the second prize winning heifer calf, Shaws Perrie by Powerhouse Italic from Michael Burns, Maybole which sold to Messrs Barrett, York.

 

Averages – Red Ladies - 3 cows served and/or suckling, £3,097.50; 32 heifers served/maiden, £3,863.67; weaned calves - 20 bull calves, £2,583; 29 heifer calves, £2,634.05.
