After being named Holstein champion during Tuesday’s dairy judging at the Great Yorkshire Show, Peak Goldwyn Rhapsody, a nine year old cow from Yasmin Bradbury, Buxton was disqualified.

The animal was stripped of its breed title following an incident of tampering which breached the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and Great Yorkshire Show regulations.

A statement from the show society said the animal was disqualified with immediate effect and any other animals entered by the competitor unable to compete at this show or at the Great Yorkshire Show for a further three years.

The Society said they take any allegation of tampering very seriously with the welfare of the animals bring paramount although the competitor does have a right to appeal the decision.

As a consequence, reserve Holstein, Newbirks Jazz 1584 from Robert and Elaine Butterfield, was promoted to champion and then went on to become reserve inter-breed champion.
