Woman dies after car collides with tractor

The incident happened on Bridgwater Road, Taunton at around 6.54pm on Thursday evening (March 9).

A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Police said: “A woman sadly died at the scene while another has been taken to Musgrove Park Hospital with life threatening injuries. She remains in a critical condition.

“Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit attended the scene. The road was re-opened shortly after 4am on Friday (March 10).

“Two men arrested in connection with the incident have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”

It came only days after the industry was hammered for its abysmal safety record after nine farm fatalities in February alone.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information is asked to call 101 and reference log 1012 of 9/3.
