Number of tractors registered lower in first quarter of 2020

UK registrations of agricultural tractors (over 50hp) followed the typical seasonal pattern, showing a large month-on-month increase in March, which is normally the peak month for registrations.

Although not quite reaching the same level as last year, at 1,763 machines the total for March 2020 was only 4 per cent lower than 2019, according to the Agricultural Engineers Association.

This, it says, is despite the potential for some deliveries to have been delayed due to the Covid-19 outbreak, although reports suggest the impact on deliveries has not been fully felt so far.

The total for the first three months of the year was 8 per cent down on the opening quarter of 2019, with 2,815 units registered.

Month: 1,763 units, -4.2 per cent change (compared with March 2019)

Year to Date: 2,815 units, -7.7 per cent change (compared with January-March 2019)
