AT Otley’s annual Christmas sale, lamb champions were a pen of heavyweight Texels from Andrew Barrett, Leathley. Weighing 49kgs, they sold for £185/head (378p/kg) to the Millstone Restaurant, Felliscliffe.
Reserve went to John Croft and Family, Beamsley, with a pen of continentals which sold for £145/head (367p/kg) to J. and K. Summers, Clayton.
In the cattle section, the overall title went to a 545kg heifer from David Wilson, Harome, which was knocked down for £2,725/head (500p/kg) to Hutchinson’s Butchers, Ripley.
A 540kg Limousin steer from F. and B. Smith, Ingleton, took reserve before selling at £1,971/head (365p/kg). The buyer was James Robertshaw, Keelham and Skipton.
Cull trade peaked at £1,818.50/head (194p/kg) for a British Blue from Richard Stevenson, Farnley, which joined Andrew Atkinson Livestock, Fellicliffe.
The pig title went to a pen of gilts weighing 82kgs from David and Cheryl Mitchell, Wilsden, which peaked at 305p/kg to the judge Keith Hardcastle for the Millstones Restaurant, Felliscliffe. Reserve were a pen of lightweights from Lewis Greenwood, Otley, which hit 230p/kg to Stanforths Butchers, Skipton.
