LEADING the trade at 5,800gns at the Farmers Guardian-supported Hereford Cattle Society’s show and sale at Hereford was Panmure 1 Radley from J.M. Cant and Partners, Arbirlot, Angus.
The 21-month-old bull by Dendor 1 Leota out of Panmure 1 Plum H12 has 400 and 600 day weights in the top 1 per cent for the breed. The buyer was B. Walters and Sons, Dryslwyn, Carmarthen.
Next, at 5,500gns and from the same vendors, was March 2018-born Panmure 1 Rocky by Romany 1 Distiller which was knocked down to R. Hobbs, Truro.
The grand male champion, Glengough 1 Vinnie, from Ian Markham, Milton Keynes, was next at 3,200gns. By Kea 1 Maestro, it sold to Dai Walters for the new Whisper herd, Newport.
Vexour 1 Percy, the senior male champion from Jan Boomaars, Woldingham made 3,100gns. The son of Solpoll 1 Landmark went home with Barry Myers, Brook, Surrey.
Show heifers had a clearance rate of 90 per cent topping at 4,200gns for Rempstone 1 Pansy N513 by Solpoll 1 Nobility from M. Ludgate, Thame, which sold to Carol Prater, Cublington, Buckinghamshire.
Carolyn Fletcher, Appleby-in-Westmorland, Cumbria took 3,500gns for Barwise 1 Anise R025, a March 2018-born heifer by Danish-bred Moeskaer Patriach 1458. It sold, served with Gouldingpoll 1 Gold Spice semen in August, to C.P. Douglas and Partners, Hawick.
The sale only heifers cleared at 94 per cent and peaked at 2,150gns for Kinglee 1 Oystergirl 594 by Panmure 1 Karl from Peter Cobley, Stoney Stanton, Leicestershire, which was purchased by G. and A. Williams, Llandovery.
