The Holstein heifer calf, which was born on December 5 last year, will be raffled off at the Black and White sale at Carlisle on December 3. Tickets are £10 and anyone can buy them. Those who want to support the cause but do not necessarily want the calf can then ask for it to be sold in the sale after the raffle has been drawn.

More information is available by going to the Lancashire Holstein Young Breeders (HYB) Facebook page or by contacting Lancashire HYB joint co-ordinator Helen Eastham via email at heast90@googlemail.com or mobile 07873 138 217.

Louise, a leading member of the FG editorial team, died in July after battling a rare form of ovarian cancer.
