Ram tops Tercrosset production sale at 3,500gns

THE annual production sale of Beltex cross Texel rams and females from the Tercrosset flock was held at Carlisle on behalf of James and Gillian Whiteford and family, Brampton.

THE annual production sale of Beltex cross Texel rams and females from the Tercrosset flock was held at Carlisle on behalf of James and Gillian Whiteford and family, Brampton.

 

The prices hit 3,500gns for a purebred Texel shearling ram, which is by a homebred sire with breeding lines tracing back to a previous Kelso ram purchase. It caught the eye of Messrs Herdman, Alnwick. The total consignment of 134 rams sold to average £935.21.

 

Females hit 450gns twice, paid for a two Beltex cross Texels which were bought by Messrs Bainbridge, Barnard Castle. 127 shearling gimmers sold to average 313.69.

 

Ewe lambs topped at 400gns for a pair of purebred Texels which were knocked down to Messrs Douglas, Irthington, Carlisle. The batch of 151 ewe lambs sold to average £157.50.

134 rams, £935.21; 127 shearling gimmers, £313.69; 151 ewe lambs, £157.50.
