Possible microbiological contamination has led the retailer to recall its own brand UHT semi-skimmed milk product as a precautionary measure.
Sainsbury’s Semi-Skimmed less than 2 per cent fat 1L UHT milk has been immediately removed from sale and recalled over fears possible microbiological contamination could lead to spoilage.
Customers have been asked not to consume this product if the best before date is either December 28, 2020 or December 29, 2020.
The Food Standard’s Agency (FSA) said: "If you have bought the product do not consume it.
"Instead, return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund.”
A Sainsbury’s spokesperson said: “Customers who have bought this product should return it to their nearest Sainsbury’s store when they next visit, where they will receive a full refund.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
