One sheep has been killed and another has been left needing vet treatment on farmland in Lincolnshire.
Both sheep were found with bullet wounds to the neck on Monday morning (November 9) when the farmer went to put up some fencing.
Sheep farmer, Paul Baker said the sheep which lost its life had an eight millimetre hole on the neck and an 8 centimetre gash across the side.
Mr Baker said it is disturbing to think someone has attacked these sheep, and his mind will not be at rest until the shooter has been caught.
A spokesperson from the police said: "the farmer discovered the animals with gunshot wounds early on Monday morning in a field near Fold Hill.
"One of the sheep was dead and the other required vet treatment.
"Farmers and people living in rural areas are asked to be vigilant and anyone with information should call 101,quoting incident number 328 of 9 November."
