Shropshire and Borders Texels sell to 4,300gns

Bidding reached 4,300gns for the champion at the Shropshire and Borders Texel Club’s show and sale of pedigree in-lamb females at Welshpool.

The fixture drew a catalogue of 93 females of which 84 turned out on the day and 10 made 1,000gns or more.

 

Pre-sale judge Geoff Morgan, (Blaencar flock), Sennybridge, gave the overall championship to the first prize shearling, from R.E.J. Pierce, Pulford, Chester.

 

In-lamb

 

The ewe, in-lamb to Hexel Wildcard and a daughter of Knock Powerpack, sold for the day’s top price to Mr Morgan.

 

D.N. Bennett and Son, Meifod, Powys, sold shearlings from their Plasucha flock at 2,000gns, 1,700gns, 1,500gns, 1,200gns and 1,000gns, while the vendors of the day’s champion, had others at 1,600gns, 1,100gns and 1,000gns twice.

 

Two-year

 

The top call for ewes was 600gns for a two-year-old from D.N. Bennett and Son selling to D.N. and J.C. Parry, Tynymaes, Llanwddyn.

 

AVERAGES

 

64 yearling ewes, £646.08; 6 aged ewes, £390.25.
