BUYERS were out in force at the English premier sale, Newark, where a Simmental bull led the field at 7,500gns.

Simmental bull hits 7,500gns at English premier

The leading exhibit was Heathbrow Governor, from David and Lesley Sapsed, Hertfordshire. A son of the home-bred Heathbrow Ex Factor, and out of Hockenhull Girlie 22, Governor was the pick of the Lyle family for their Cambus and Viewforth herds in Fife.

 

Second top price at 4,000gns was the pre-sale champion, Sacombe Gladiator from the Borlase family, Hertfordshire. This son of Clonagh World Class is out of Sacombe Wanda-Wanse, a Glenturk Nomad daughter. The buyer was W.R. Eales and Son, Leicestershire.

 

Female trade hit 4,000gns, paid for the Blair Rory-sired fifth calver Thursford Holly 3 from the dispersal of the Thursford herd, held on behalf of D.C. Mitchell, Norfolk. Out of Thursford Holly, it sold with a Scotland Hill Cairo-sired bull calf to David Lowry, Lanarkshire.

Shadwell herd tops Aberdeen-Angus trade

A select offering of Aberdeen-Angus bulls topped at 5,000gns, paid for Shadwell Lord Horatio R802 from Shadwell Estate, Thetford. Sired by Rawburn Rommel E423 and out of Shadwell Lady Heather M572, it was bought by Rand Contracting, Hertfordshire.

From the same vendor came Shadwell Fury R857, an Idvies Eland N596 son out of Shadwell Fleur, which sold to Don Parking and Sons, Gateforth, for 4,300gns.

Lincoln Reds realise 6,500gns

Lincoln Red prices were headed by the St Fort Rolex son, Foulness Usher from Chris Page, Brough. Out of Westacre Bianca P65, a Market Stainton King daughter, it sold to W. Mallon Livestock, Norfolk, for 6,500gns.

 

A 5,500gns bid was made by Severalles Farms, Newbury, for Highbarn Universe from N.J. Barton, Macclesfield. By Brackenhurst Ranger, Universe is out of Highbarn Patricia P8, a Walmber Hermes daughter.

 

Auchmacoy Ulfred, from Susan Buchan, Aberdeenshire, followed at 5,000gns. This Auchmacoy Orlando son is out of Auchmacoy Bianca, and sold to Michael Read, Lincolnshire.

 

Andrew Mylius, Fife, sold the Wragby Minstrel son St Fort Union Jack for 4,200gns. Out of St Fort Thora, it sold to R. and I. Mee, Leicestershire. From the same home was St Fort Universe, a son of Beverley Noble out of St Fort Hetty. It was knocked down to Mr Page for the same money.

Salers peak at 4,000gns

The highlight of the Salers entry was a 4,000gns call for Rigel Kentucky, a Casimir-sired bull from Rigel Pedigrees, Yarm. Out of Rigel Malibu, a Rigel Byron daughter, it found a new home with J.L. Hartley and Son, Shropshire.

 

The Manor Lane Firework son, Approach Farm Klassic, from Angus Gowthorpe, York, and out of Poldean Cherie reached 3,600gns. The buyer was A.T. Hames and Son, Derbyshire.
