Spring Stars sale: High of 2,200gns for Dorsets at Carlisle

The Spring Stars sale of Poll Dorset and Dorset Horn sheep at Carlisle topped at 2,200gns for Richhill A- Plus A980, a shearling gimmer.

By Sandelford Usain out of a home-bred ewe from Ben Lamb, Co Armagh. It sold to Messrs Kennedy, Ballymena, Co Antrim.

 

Next, making 2,000gns, from the same home was the female and reserve supreme champion, another shearling gimmer, Richhill A-Star A1019 by Sandelford Thunder, which sold to Messrs Hanna, Ballyclare, Co Antrim.

At 900gns was Downkillybegs A102, a shearling gimmer by Deverill Xavi consigned by W. and K. Carson, Ballymena. The buyer was Messrs Fitton, Bolton.

 

Averages

17 shearling gimmers, £542.29; 8 ewe lambs, £513.19; 4 shearling rams, £564.38; 18 ram lambs, £638.17.
