The first show and sale dedicated to Swiss Valais Blacknose sheep took place at Borderway mart, Carlisle, attracting hundreds of visitors.
The sale peaked at 3,600gns an in-lamb gimmer, Blossom, from Raymond Irvine and Jenni Macallister, Ballindoch, who also had the supreme and female champion, Highland Breeze, which was not offered for sale.
The buyers were G.W. Lee and Sons, Frosterley, Co Durham, who also paid 3,400gns for Westmorland Dilly, a ewe lamb, by Prendwick Eros from Tim Dunne, Appleby, and 2,500gns for a ewe lamb from Lyonpark Livestock, Maybole.
Also selling for 2,500 was Highland Bliss, a gimmer from Neil Richardson and Dorota Falkowska, Buxton.
Shannon Poulson, Aberdeen, paid 2,400gns for Hullock Howe Delilah, a ewe lamb from Hullock Howe Farming, Penrith.
Mr Dunne sold two ewe lambs, Westmorland Dainty and Westmorland Dream, for 2,300gns and 2,200gns to A. Douglas and Son, Newcastleton, Roxburghshire.
Also selling for 2,200gns was a ram lamb from Lyonpark Livestock which was knocked down to Renne Snouckaert, Checkendon, Oxfordshire.
