Swaledale records smashed at Hawes

A new centre record of £8,400 for a Swaledale female and a breed record for an in-lamb gimmer shearling was set at Hawes at the Swaledale Sheep Breeders Association (B District) show and sale.

Swaledale records smashed at Hawes

The record breaker was the winning gimmer shearling and reserve champion from P.E. and K.A. Sowerby, Barras. It sold to Eddie Haughey, Ballymena, who also paid the next top price of £4,000 for a gimmer shearling from W. Richardson and Son, Dufton.

 

Messrs Richardson also had the top price ewe at £3,500. This was the third prize winner which sold to J. Nattrass, Hawes.

 

The champion was the winning ewe from P. Hallam, Horton in Ribblesdale, which sold for £1,000 to W. Gibson and Son, Allenheads.
