Texel gimmer sets Worcester centre record at 16,000gns

The Farmers Guardian-sponsored English National Texel sale at Worcester saw a new centre record price for a female of 16,000gns set. This was paid for a gimmer from Stuart Currie’s Beautry flock, Settle, North Yorkshire.

Worcester texel sale sees new record set #sheep365 #texel

This daughter of Loosebeare Voldemort, out of a dam by Beautry Taz, was knocked down to Paul Tippetts, Shifnal, Shropshire, who also paid 4,800gns for another gimmer by the same sire from Mr Currie.

 

Selling for 6,200gns was the pre-sale female champion and reserve overall champion from Robert Cockburn’s Knap flock, Errol, Perthshire. By Tamnamoney Tuborg Gold and out of a dam by Knock Papoose, it sold to Geoff and Eifion Morgan, Sennybridge.

Heading up the male prices was the overall champion from the pre-sale show, ram lamb Sportsmans Yolo, a Strathbogie Whiplash son out of a dam by Cairnam Talisman, which sold with an index of 310. Consigned by Boden and Davies, Stockport, it went to David Chambers for the Twelve Oaks flock, Northamptonshire.


Next at 6,500gns was Cornmore Yokel from John Leitch, Co Tyrone. By Cornmore Vidal, it is out of a dam by Cambwell Laird and sold to Paul Johnson, Stoke-on-Trent.


Sportsman’s Yamaha, a member of the first prize winning group of three by Strathbogie Whiplash and a full ET brother to the pre-sale champion from Boden and Davies, sold with an index of 285 to Henry Ashley and family for the Lincs flock, Boston.

Following that came a brace of 5,000gns calls, with both of these bids made by Stephen Cobbled, Suffolk. The first was for Strathbogie Yankee Doodle, by Millar’s Windbrook, from Jim Innes, Huntly, and the other was the best of the day from Peter Woof, Cumbria, Stainton Yogorra, by Hexel Wildcard.

 

Shearling rams sold to 3,500gns for Whitehart Whistleblower from Nicola Hartwright, Bringsty, Worcestershire. This son of Langside The Gaffer, was the pick of M.A. Jones, Craven Arms.

 

Next at 2,800gns from the same pen was Whitehart Wrestler, by Cherryvale Shergar and bought by P. and M. Miller, Evesham.
