Thainstone Spring Show and Sale peaks at 6,500gns

First prize winner, Bonnykelly Jackpot, a 16-month old Charolais bull from R. Leggat, New Pitsligo sold for a sale topping 6,500gns at the Northern Spring show at Thainstone.

The overall champion in the show and sale of exhibition cattle was a 16 month-old 598kg British Blue cross heifer from Emslie Livestock, Mintlaw which went on to sell for £6,000 to Aileen Ritchie, Whitecairns.

 

Selling for 6,000gns was the reserve pedigree Simmental champion, 20-month-old Corskie Fitzroy from W.J. and J. Green, Garmouth who also took the championship with Corskie Faldo which sold for 4,500gns to H.C. and G. Simpson, Wick.

 

The overall and Charolais championship title went to Michael Massie, Ellon with his 21-month old Charolais bull, Elrick Justice which went on to realise 5,000gns to J. J. Gordon, Huntly. Mr Massie also took the reserve champion title in the Charolais class with 20-month old Elrick Jagger which sold for 4,800gns to H. and J. Riach, Banchory.

 

The Limousin championship went to S. Irvine, Drummuir with 20-month-old, Anside Jazz. It sold for 4,800gns to W.M. and C. Alexander, Wick.

Reserve was A. G. Howie, Stuartfield with 21-month old Knock Jumbo which was knocked down to D. and P. Petrie, Banchory for 4,000gns.

 

The winner of the Aberdeen Angus class was A. J. Norrie, Turriff with 23-month old Wrae Brave Ballesteros which made 2,600gns to J. Watson, Laurencekirk. The reserve champion was two-year old, Strathinver Master Beethoven from Wendy Willox, Druminnor. It sold for 3,800gns to D. Petrie and Sons, Banchory.

 

The Any Other Breeds class saw the 25-month old British Blue bull Aultmore Jacko from W. J. Patterson and Son, Aultmore take the title and sell for 5,400gns to the judge, Lee Loghill, Orkney. Reserve champion went to 31-month old Rigel Cassio, a Salers bull, from Messrs Pye, Middleton-On-Leven which made 3,200gns to I. J. Daniel and Partners, Strichen.
