A one-year-old boy has died after being hit by a vehicle on a farm in the Republic of Ireland.
The incident happened in County Kilkenny on Thursday afternoon.
An Irish Police spokesman said officers were called to the farm at 3:20pm but the boy had died at the scene.
It is understood the boy was struck by a farm vehicle and the Irish Health and Safety Authority is investigating.
Local parish priest Fr Frank Purcell said the ’hearts and prayers of the entire community in Johnswell, and beyond, were with the family’ of the deceased toddler.
He told the Irish Sun: "This is an unimaginable tragedy.
“The whole place is devastated. It’s unbelievable.
“We all offer the family our deepest sympathy and support at this time.
“We pray that somehow their good friends and their strong faith will be their strength and support.”
