Tributes have been paid to well-known sheep breeder and Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland (RHASS) director John Hamilton, who has died.
Mr Hamilton, 57, of Aikengall Farm, Dunbar, was killed when a piece of farm machinery overturned on Sunday afternoon.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police in East Lothian responded to a farm, near Garvald at around 1.25pm on Sunday 24th March after a plant vehicle overturned.
"A 57-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this death and a report has been submitted to the Crown Office.”
Mr Hamilton, known as ‘Joffy’, was a popular farmer and a past present of the Blackface Sheep Breeders’ Association.
He kept about 500 suckler cows and 2,000 hill ewes in partnership with his wife Vanessa and their three sons, James, Charlie and Harry.
He joined RHASS as a director in 2005 and has been a director ever since.
Alan Laidlaw, RHASS chief executive, said: “As a much loved character John brought so much to the RHASS team and will be sorely missed by us all. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.”
Police Scotland said the Health and Safety Executive had been informed.
