A farmer and his son have been killed following a water buffalo attack in Wales, with his daughter sustaining a serious leg injury.
Ralph ‘Jon’ Jump (57) and children Peter (19) and Isabel (22) were attacked by a water buffalo on their family farm in Monmouthshire, Wales on May 5.
Police, paramedics and air ambulance attended but Mr Jump was pronounced dead at the scene.
His son, Peter, was airlifted to hospital after sustaining critical injuries but has since died, with sister Isabel sustaining a serious leg injury.
It is believed Mr Jump produced craft soap from the buffalo milk, with a neighbour reportedly stating the herd ‘were a familiar sight on the farm’.
The buffalo has been destroyed.
Gwent Police has launched an ongoing investigation into the incident.
Detective Inspector Amanda Venn said: “Our thoughts remain with the family at this tragic time. The family have asked to be given time to grieve and we would ask that their privacy is respected.
“The force is also currently liaising with the Gwent Coroner Service in relation to this incident.”
