Welsh Rural Affairs Minister Lesley Griffiths has reappointed Kevin Roberts as Hybu Cig Cymru (HCC) chair, extending his term by 12 months.
Ms Griffiths described Mr Roberts, who has been in post since spring 2017, as a ‘highly effective chair’ during a time of unprecedented uncertainty and change.
“This news will provide much-welcome continuity for levy payers, farmers and Wales’ agriculture industry,” she said.
Mr Roberts’ priorities over the next year will be to focus on a new initiative to promote Welsh red meat’s sustainability, build export trade and deliver the Red Meat Development Programme.
Separately, Neil Parish, Conservative candidate for Tiverton and Honiton, has announced he will be seeking re-election as the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee chair if he wins the seat on December 12.
Mr Parish confirmed his intention to stand in his latest article for Farmers Guardian’s Brexit hub, where he said he wanted to ensure any future Agriculture and Environment Bills were properly scrutinised.
