Welshpool Charolais sell to a top of 5,000gns

Three quarters of the Charolais bulls forward at the breed society sale in Welshpool last Thursday, changed hands.

Leading the bids at 5,000gns was Beanhill Jamaica from James and Belinda Kimber, Chippenham, Wiltshire. This 18 month old Blelack Digger son was purchased by B.A. Williams, Anglesey, Gwynedd.

 

The Kimbers also had the reserve champion, Beanhill Jack - last year’s junior champion at the Three Counties. The June-2014 born Alwent Goldbar son was bought for 4,800gns by Messrs Harding, Caersws, Powys.

From the same vendor was another Goldbar son, the 18 month old Beanhill Jupiter. This had been reserve junior champion at the Three Counties and went to Messrs Sargent and Waight, Pewsey, Wiltshire, at 3,400gns.

The sale’s supreme champion made 3,200gns to the Messrs Thomas, Llanfylin, Powys. The 16 month old Wissington Highflyer son, Wissington Jason, exhibited by John and Jenny Rix, Colchester, Essex.

 

At 4,000gns, J.P. Breeze and Son, Knighton, Powys bought Moelfre Jace, a 17 month old son of the 16,000gns Royal Welsh reserve male champion Anside Foreman. The bull was exhibited by Kevin Thomas, Castlenewydd Emlyn, Carmarthenshire.

From the same vendor was the second prize winner Moelfre Jamil by Anside Foreman, which made 3,400gns by J.L. Jones and Partners, Knighton, Powys.

 

Knocked down at 3,800gns was the September-2014 born Dawson Jack by Goldies Eddy. From Rachel Dawson, Newton Burgoland, Leicestershire, it went back to Leicestershire with D.N. Cook.

 

The 14 month old Lindford Jacko also took the eye of Mr Cook who bought this Blelack Digger son for 3,000gns from Alan Platt, Shrewsbury, Shropshire.

Four bulls made 3,500gns. These included the 20 month old Lindford Jamie by Cottage Devon, selling to J.E. and S.I. Morgan, Wells, Powys. Richard and Alison Tucker sold their Gower Juggler, a May-2014 born Alwent Goldbar son to C.J. Jones, Rhayader, Powys. Then the 19 month old Maerdy Julep by Maerdy Dynamite was purchased by A. and B. Lewis, Machynlleth, Powys from Esmor Evans, Mold.

 

Gareth Jones, Bala, saw his September-2014 born Blelack Digger son Esgob Jake also sell at 3,500gns to A. and J.A. Hopkins, Aberystwyth.

Another Digger son, made 3,000gns. This was Fronheulog Jacob, a 16 month old from Huw and Janice Evans and Rhian Varga, Macclesfield, selling to A.E. Gough, Knighton, Powys.

 

AVERAGES 21 bulls £3,450.
