From Anita Padfield and Paul Barwood, Great Yarmouth, the championship rosettes for this four-year-old Limousin cow keep coming.

It has already taken inter-breed titles at Nottinghamshire, Suffolk and South of England shows to date this year as well as several on the show circuit’s in previous years.

This Wilodge Fastrac daughter was bought from the 2014 Red Ladies sale at Carlisle as a calf and will be heading to Norfolk and Kent shows next.

Standing reserve was the British Blonde, Everingham Judy, from N.T. and J.A. Barrett, York. This was the first inter-breed reserve win at Lincolnshire for the four-year-old Budore Donald daughter, shown with its January-2018 born bull calf at foot, Everingham Oscar.

The cow was led by Neil Barrett and the calf by his nephew Harry Barrett. The outfit will be shown at the Great Yorkshire Show next.

Judge Frank Robson, Newcastle Upon Tyne, said there was little in it between his champion and reserve, with ’both animals putting on an outstanding show as fantastic examples of their breed’.

A Suffolk ram from Jeff and Christopher Riby, Bridlington, took top honours in the sheep ring. It has previously taken titles at the Great Yorkshire Show, where it won its breed championship in 2017 as a ram lamb. The two-shear homebred animal will be heading to Driffield Show next.

Judge Derek Watkins, Stafford, described the ram as having a ‘good carcase, with a good shape for the breed which was pleasing to see’.

In the Lincoln Red classes, breed champion went to the February-2017 born heifer, Yarnhill Hannah, a Hemingby Jaguar daughter from Iken Hall Farms, Woodbridge, with reserve to Nottingham Trent Universities March-2017 born bull, Brackenhurst Wizzkid.

His reserve and winner of the other pure continental championship was a three-year-old Blue Texel ram from Grace Sercombe, Melton Mowbray.

Purchased from a breed society sale at Worcester as a ram lamb for 680gns, it was shown by Grace’s sister, Victoria Sercombe, on its first outing.

The native Lincoln Longwools saw a strong entry forward, with breed champion going to a two-shear ram from M.D. and J. Coney, Grantham. The pair also took reserve breed champion on the day with a yearling ewe.

In the pig inter-breed, the title went to the Large White, Calcaria Maple 3, from Ron and David Fieldhouse, Stutton.

The October-2017 born gilt is a Tates King David 242 daughter and resides with the family’s 30 breeding sows. Reserve went to the Large Black gilt, Framfield Diana, from Maria Naylor, Framfield. The homebred animal also took breed champion at the South of England Show this year.

The dairy section saw the Holstein cow, Corringham Shottle B Beth, from Matthew Winter, Gainsborough, take top honours.

The EX94 Picston Shottle daughter was shown giving 11,000kg, last calved in January this year and was on its last outing before retirement.

Its herd mate Corringham Kryptonite Jenny received an honourable mention from judge, Robert Adams, Derby.

His reserve inter-breed was the Jersey, Ravenfield Florence 18, from John and Sue Heath, Hull. Calved in March this year with its third, it was giving 28 litres and will be at the Great Yorkshire Show on its next outing.
