Dave Hastings (otherwise known as Beavis), 24, Will Ives, 21, Henry Mitchell, 23, Alan Burborough, 24 and Michael Fisk, 24 set off from Wimslow Market Square at cycled through the night raising money for R.A.B.I and MNDA.

The cycle was not without its challenges as Dave and Will had to pull out after 80 miles due to knee injuries. Henry also suffered a grazed knee after falling asleep for a second on his bike but kept going with Michael and Alan.

The boys called in at the Farmers Guardian for doughnuts and a hot drink on their way and arrived in Blackpool within the 24-hour deadline they had given themselves.

Henry said: “A lot of people didn’t think we would do it as we haven’t really trained. It’s our 50th year as a club and so we decided to do something for the club to mark it.

Michael said: “We would do it again but only after we can walk again which right now feels like about three years away! For now we will celebrate with sleep and a beer.”

The boys were accompanied by fellow club members Abi Burborough and Daniel Latty, who manned the support van.
