Exclusive YFC T-shirts, 4,500 pre-registrations and a £1000 raised for charity-it was all going on at the Winter gardens
One thousand t-shirts – printed exclusively for YFC members - were given away in the opening hours of this year’s Young Farmers annual convention weekend taking place in Blackpool (May 9-11).
Supporting the National Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs’s national Rural+ campaign, we will be donating our funds to YoungMinds, who offer mental health support and emotional well-being to young people across the country.
Rural+ was launched in February last year by NFYFC national chairman Claire Worden after research carried out by NFYFC and the Farming Community Network showed fellow members were affected by a climate of uncertainty in farming. Concerns included the limited opportunites available in farming, rural housing shortages, poor returns and a lack of capital finance.
The Winter Gardens, the centre of the weekend’s activities, opened its doors to 4,500 Young Farmers, a record number of pre registrations. It is expected numbers will reach more than 5,000 during the weekend marking the biggest event on the YFC calendar.
The FG team were there to greet members who were asked to donate £1 in exchange for an FG t-shirt and, in true YFC style did not hesitate to make a difference to a good cause.
