YFC AGM: Wareham and Purbeck YFC celebrate their 320 cycle

Members from Wareham and Purbeck have cycled 320 miles all the way from Dorset in just two days.

Pete Siviter, 23, Josh Fincham, 22, Emily Gascoigne, 26, and Lucy Le Cocq, 29, rode more than 30 hours in 48 hours and landed in Blackpool on Wednesday (May 7) in plenty of time ahead of this year’s AGM.

The quartet set off on their travels on the Tuesday morning from Swannage Pier in Dorset and cycled 140 miles the first day and 180 on the second.

When the group hit Whitchurch, Shropshire, Pete decided on an emergency measure and placed a giant yellow sponge on his seat as extra padding for the remaining miles.

Their tremendous effort saw them arrive in Blackpool at 9.30pm where they celebrated with a bottle of champagne before heading off for a kebab.

Lucy says: “We were so glad to see the tower and it felt like we hammered the last 18 miles.”

Josh, whose fundraising idea it was, was the only one who regularly trained for the challenge, cycling 200 miles a week since January and losing three stone along the way.
