A Young Farmer is set to journey from John O’Groats to Lands End on a vintage 1954 David Brown tractor to help raise funds for charity.
Tom Pepper, of Dirt & Diesel fame, will take on the ag-themed journey in memory of his uncle who passed away from cancer a few years ago.
"He put his heart and soul into competing in ploughing matches and this particular tractor was one of three he had over time for competing," he told Farmers Guardian.
"When he passed we couldn’t bring ourselves to get rid of it.
"Then with my nan being diagnosed with cancer a few months ago and myself being hospitalised with a serious heart condition, I became really aware of how people around me pulled together for support.
"I want to see if I can get the farming community to pull together to do the same to help tackle something that affects so many of us.
"So many people have reached out with their stories of how they’ve been affected. So that’s how the challenge was born."
Tom has been inundated with offers of sponsorship from various companies for the trip, which he will document on social media with a series of videos.
The challenge begins on April 15, 2019. Tom hopes he can complete the 1,000 mile trip in eight days and is aiming to raise £5,000.
