Name any production system and the chances are that you will find it in New Zealand.
Nick Swallow, New Zealand Trade Commissioner to the UK says: “New Zealand is well-known as a world-class food producer, but it would be a mistake to think that’s all we have to offer.”
New Zealanders farm in landscapes which range from rolling pasture and coastal plains to mountainous high country and in climates from sub-tropical to temperate. The diversity of the landscape is reflected in the country’s output which includes livestock and arable, as well as horticulture, viticulture and aquaculture.
This means New Zealand agritech development is just as varied. “We’ve got a world of expertise in one country and that we offer knowledge and technology solutions which meet the needs of producers around the world,” says Mr Swallow.
It is a mission the country is working extremely hard to realise. Nick Swallow explains: “We want to establish global partnerships and attract smart capital. We have successful growth acceleration systems in place here which is proven by our own agritech solutions.
So we want the world to understand New Zealand is great place to connect with innovative entrepreneurs and forward-thinking businesses. New Zealand is the ideal place to test new ideas and to help you develop robust solutions.”
