New Zealand might be on the other side of the world to the UK, but farmers in both countries have more in common than they realise. Especially when it comes to coping with extreme weather conditions.
Both know only too well that work on a farm does not stop just because the conditions are poor. In fact, the worse the weather, the more work there usually is to do.
No one can control the weather - but you can control what you wear. Which, in turn, dictates your ability to carry on working. The last thing you need is your clothing to let you down and that’s where Betacraft comes in.
“Since 1952 Betacraft has been creating gear that works as hard as the worker does,” said Mark Beatson, Betacraft export director.
“Fabricated using the best materials and technologies, cut and sewn by experts to exacting standards, we create high performance garments that keep you outside for longer.
“A family business through and through, we’re driven by the desire to help New Zealand’s outsiders – the farmers, the fishers, the sailors, the hunters, the workers and the adventurers.”
Betacraft was set up by David Beatson, whose experience serving in World War Two made him aware of the demands of outdoor life and the importance of always being prepared.
By the time he arrived back home in New Zealand his perspective on life had dramatically altered and he made the decision to trade his city job for rural life.
He started a business out of his garage supplying and repairing horse and cow covers but eventually turned his attention to outdoor workwear, developing a reputation for garments that were robust, durable and unfailingly waterproof.
Now in its fourth generation, Betacraft remains a family business committed to producing professional grade, long lasting gear that can withstand even the most extreme conditions.
“Removing barriers is in our DNA and there is no such word as ‘can’t’ in our vocabulary,” says Mark. “Our customer is at the heart of every decision we make. We believe in customer-led innovation and strive to create win:win scenarios by understanding ourselves and them.”
He says Betacraft listens to its customers to produce the workwear they really need. Even the smallest details are carefully considered, leaving nothing to chance.
Details such as cuffs, flaps, pockets and hoods are all specially designed to keep the rain, wind and muck out, and everything is waterproof, windproof and warm.
The organisation may be on the other side of the world but thanks to modern technology the Betacraft team is only ever a phone call away.
The team keep in close contact with their UK distributor and are happy to connect directly with customers via Zoom in order to provide any support or guidance they may need.
And, because Betacraft knows that making an important purchase from a new brand always requires a leap of faith, every item of clothing comes with hassle free warranties to give the buyer absolute confidence when making a purchase.
“Selling online from our website has significantly grown in the past two to three years and our products have been sold to customers in all quarters of the globe,” he says.
