The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) is a statutory levy board, funded by farmers, growers and others in the supply chain and managed as an independent organisation (independent of both commercial industry and of Government). Our purpose is to inspire our farmers, growers and industry to succeed in a rapidly changing world. Our vision is for a world-class food and farming industry inspired by, and competing with, the best.
Leading on the promotion of Farmbench and the recruitment and retention of Farmbench users, you will ensure that accurate, industry representative benchmarking data sets are uploaded and validated. A key element of your role will be to support and facilitate farmer-to-farmerlearning, through group benchmarking meetings. The overall
objective is to see real and sustained improvement in farm business performance. Although you will be involved in some data uploads, it is anticipated that the majority of farm datasets will be self-inputted by the farmer with your support. Some data validation and simple analysis may be required in the processof preparing materials for group benchmarking meetings and providing interpretation and context on the benchmark reports. We will also look to you to work in close partnership with AHDB KE colleagues and external consultants in the area to promote, demonstrate and train levy players and supply chain stakeholders on Farmbench.
To be successful, you will need a professional qualification in Agriculture/Economics or another numerate discipline, or possess equivalent experience. You’ll need knowledge of physical and financial data recording systems, including tax and management accounts; the main cost of production principles etc. as well as being well-versed in farming practices and inputs markets - particularly in the dairy, arable, beef and sheep sectors. It is essential that you are IT literate and hold a current, valid driving licence. Finally, you must be a British citizen or be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
Extensive travel is a necessity of the role and the majorityof the time will be spent travelling. Should you require access to an AHDB Regional Office, the closest office would be Edinburgh.
