Nene Valley Crematorium Operations Assistant – full time, salary circa £16,000 Reporting directly to the Operations Co-Ordinator, your primary responsibilities are cremator technician, chapel (ceremony hall) attendant and gardener. As cremator technician you will operate the cremator and work front of house dealing with the public, funeral directors and ceremony leaders. Ideally you will hold the appropriate cremator operator qualification, or be willing to undertake training to achieve it. You will have the ability to bear coffins, if required, and will carry out the scattering of ashes. You will be responsible for accurate data entry of the cremation process and music requirements, so will need to demonstrate a good level of IT skill, and have the ability to produce related reports in accordance with Environmental Health Authority requirements. You will carry out minor repairs, maintenance and housekeeping of all areas, including the cleaning of memorials. You will assist in the maintenance of memorial gardens within the garden of remembrance (site) and possess the ability to provide high standards of work. In addition, you will support your line manager in contributing towards landscape schemes, as well as working on a wide range of horticultural duties including planting, pruning, grass seeding/cutting, and the application of chemicals, including herbicides, insecticides, and fungicides. Ideally you will therefore hold the relevant qualifications or be willing to undertake training to achieve them. Occasionally you will provide administrative assistance, to including guidance and support for people as they select memorials in commemoration of their loved one. Some weekend working will be required. This is a permanent role and you will be expected to work shifts to accommodate a seven-day working rota; hours will vary, but will be determined by service delivery requirements.
