At a time of unprecedented change and opportunity in agriculture and the rural sector SAC Consulting, a division of SRUC is seeking a motivated Rural Business Consultant. Working for the specialist Rural Business Unit, core work areas will include:
- Agricultural economic and policy analysis and market research.
- Financial and environmental auditing and benchmarking of farm business and food supply chains.
- Farm and rural business consultancy.
- Investment appraisal of renewable energy and agricultural projects.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on diverse projects across many parts of the agricultural industry including; farmers, trade bodies, food processors, retailers, researchers and government agencies.
This role will suit a self motivated individual who enjoys working in a team and wants to make a difference to the agricultural sector. Key requirements are technical expertise and the ability to communicate well with farmers, industry organisations and related agri-businesses.
Candidates will have a strong knowledge and understanding of business and economics, policy and sustainability issues with an emphasis on agriculture though experience from other relevant sectors will be considered. Knowledge of specific agricultural commodity sectors, agricultural policy, food sector, environmental or wider rural issues would also be beneficial.
Work will be based predominantly in Central Scotland though travel around the UK is occasionally required. A current driving licence is essential. The post is expected to be based at our office near Edinburgh though other locations will be considered.
