Farmers Guardian has united with 19 leading industry stakeholders to launch the second phase of its #ThisIsAgriculture campaign.
Farmers Guardian has united with 19 leading industry stakeholders to launch the second phase of its #ThisIsAgriculture campaign.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of the diverse career opportunities available in the sector to non farming audiences and support the industry in recruiting and retaining new blood and existing members of staff.

It follows research conducted by FG last year, which revealed agriculture is rarely sold as an exciting option for bright minds in schools.

This, coupled with a huge lack of understanding about the career opportunities available, means many people still hold outdated, stereotypical views of what agriculture is and what it has to offer.

We are collaborating with industry bodies and our industry partners to see how and where we can work together to shape the political agenda, drive educational reform and provide learning resources.

A Day in the Life:

Agriculture is one of the UK's most vibrant, varied and dynamic industries to be involved.
No two days are ever the same.

Meet the youngsters who are making a difference and carving out successful careers.

Starting off this online series is Joshua Kane, who is involved in Sales and Demonstration at CLAAS.

Important factors for the work environment

Quote of the week

“Connecting with the next generation has never been more important. #ThisIsAgriculture has the power to listen, learn, influence & educate through multiple channels.
As part of this, we’re proud to be raising awareness about the rich & diverse careers and opportunities in Agriculture for Gen Z and beyond.”

Duncan Murray-Clarke, Managing Director, The Ad Plain

Important Factors for the Work Environment

Farmers Guardian commissioned a survey asking 16 - 35 year olds what young people wanted to achieve from their careers and what could attract new talent into agriculture.

Of almost 1,800 respondents, the survey highlighted a lack of understanding around the opportunities the industry can offer.

Helping others, job security, career development and a work/life balance were important factors the demographic wanted from their careers. Below are the headline findings which inspired the launch of an industry-backed campaign we are proud to call #ThisIsAgriculture.
