Farmers Guardian strikes major Morrisons deal

Farmers Guardian has entered into a major partnership deal with Morrisons which will see the supermarket chain support this year’s 24 Hours in Farming event and headline sponsor the British Farming Awards.

24 Hours in Farming has become the industry’s go-to online event, last year reaching an audience of 112 million. This year it will take place on August 10.

Equally, the British Farming Awards, which celebrate new talent and innovation within the industry, are now a ‘don’t miss’ event within the British farming calendar.

The 2017 awards will be held for the first time at the National Motorcycle Museum, Birmingham, on October 19. In addition to being headline sponsor of the awards, Morrisons is sponsoring the Family Farm of the Year category.

Farmers Guardian editor Ben Briggs said: “We are delighted to be working with Morrisons on both projects and welcome its support of these two exceptional events. Its investment in British agriculture is well-documented and we look forward to its involvement in helping to move both events forward.”

Andrew Thornber, Morrisons manufacturing managing director, said: “Morrisons is pleased to sponsor 24 hours in Farming and to support the British Farming Awards as every day we work with and buy from British farmers. In fact, we work directly with more than 3,000 livestock farmers and more than 200 growers.

"At Morrisons, we prefer to deal directly with farmers because we believe this works best for both parties. We are committed to developing strong and enduring relationships with British farmers helping us to understand better and work together to build long-term sustainability.”
