From fame to farming: 7 celebrities that have turned to agriculture

Introducing seven of the most famous faces exchanging red carpet glamour for farm yard antics in the world wide countryside.

It is hard to ignore the sea of famous faces that have done a U-turn and swapped the glitz and glamour of the red carpet for wellies in recent years.

The pandemic only heightened peoples interest in the countryside, and looking at the success of farmers across social platforms like Instagram, it seems everyone wants a little slice of the good life.

And we are not just talking hobby farmers.

Some of these celebrities have ditched their life of lights, camera and action to take centre stage on the farm.

From Russel Crowes impressive enterprise in Australia, to beloved English actor Martin Clunes small herd of Dexter cattle, when it comes to highlighting the world of farming, spreading the farming message to the world is always essential.

Martin Clunes

In quite the idyllic spot in Dorset, the Doc Martin actor moved to the farm in 2007, which is home to horses, Shetland ponies, dogs, 50 Dexter cattle, sheep and hens. In an interview with Saga magazine, he said the farm kept him in touch with real life.

Calvin Harris

/

Farm life seems quite the swap for one of the UKs most notable music producers and DJ. But Calvin Harris seems quite at home on his 138-acre farm, Terra Masia, which is Ibizas largest organic farm. He was also heard talking about cattle recently, on Zoe Balls BBC radio show, questioning what type of breed would suit the farm best.

Kelvin Fletcher

/

From Emmerdales notorious farm to real life farming, Kelvin Fletcher and his wife Liz have jumped headfirst into their new venture on their 120-acre farm on the edge of the Peak District. Documenting their life through social media, it seems all the family have fallen in love with their new way of life.

Flavia Cacace

/

Flavia is known for her musical talents on hit show Strictly Come Dancing, but the ballroom star swapped sequins for a smallholding. Along with TV actor partner Jimmi Mistry, the pair found their own piece of heaven and now life off grid on their seven acres in Devon.

Nicole Kidman

/

Her list of hit films is endless, and it seems farm life is a hit too. The 111-acre enterprise in Sydney incudes a working farm, and is home to alpacas and cows. When filming for Vogues 73 questions, the actress said her favourite things about the farm were, "The air. The simplicity. The peace."

JB Gill

/

Once part of JLS, one of the UKs most popular boybands, JB Gill found home in the Kent countryside, and is now a huge advocate for British farming. He has got behind various farming campaigns and headed up the hugely popular CBeebies show, Down on the farm.

Russell Crowe

/

He has been known to call his 1,400-acre farm home, and the Gladiator star is not afraid to muck in either. His family have now been running the enterprise for many years, which is home to a large herd of cows. The farm was sadly affected in 2019 as fires ripped through Australia.
